Movie Review: Born to Race

Words by Ben

I can still remember the excitement I had when I saw the first installment of the Fast & the Furious on the silver screen. Before this, I had never seen a movie that depicted the life in the modified car scene, and everything was simply awesome.

But then as I watched it again and again (as, I believe, many motorheads out there), I found it to be a bit too... Outlandish. The cars were too rice, the effects too much, the action too fake. The movie was just too "Hollywood", and I ended up longing for a good, honest movie about living in the modded car scene.

The following installments of the F&F franchise followed, and things only got more and more disconnected from real life. Nothing they brought could really quench my thirst for a good car movie. Until I stumbled upon Born to Race.

Sam Williams - Correspondent [Taiwan]

Hello! My name’s Sam, I’m from the UK and I’ve been into anything and everything with an engine since, well... forever. My first memories of falling in love with engines date back to when I was just a kid, a very small kid... a 1 year old baby in fact (My memory is pretty good!). All I wanted to do was visit the local fire station and look at those huge red fire trucks, and we’d go day after day, week after week, just so that I could stare wide-eyed at them for what felt like hours on end. Until one day, I remember, one of the firemen was kind enough to pick me up and sit me in the cab. And there it was, a lifetime passion was born.

A Blast From the Past

Words & snaps by Sam

The morning of Sunday 16th February arrived and it was time to attend my first event here in Australia. It just so happened to be a classic Japanese show, perfect!

Admittedly I wasn’t aware of this event until just a couple of days before hand, but luckily it was to be hosted in a suburb of Brisbane, less than an hour from where I live, which was even luckier when considering the 7:30am start time!

The organisers hold two events a year: an open all-Japanese day held in June, and this, an all-Japanese Classic day intended for cars 25 years and older.

Cannibal!

Words & Snaps by Ben

Some cars just catch the eye. They might not be show queens or outlandishly modified monsters, but they get  just as much attention, or even sometimes more than the formers.

Gerald's Corolla is one of these, and when I first saw it at the JDM Legends Meet, it had something mesmerising to it. I knew then I had to get it on my lens.

Tyre Review: Federal 595EVO

 Words & snaps by Ben

After a rather long 2 years and 4 months driving about with my Federal 595EVO, it was finally time to let them go to the Elysian Fields of tyres. This is the best time to give them a post-mortem review and to share with you my experience using these tyres.
